How to Recycle Your Sex Toys

THIS ENTRY WAS POSTED ON April 21, 2017 BY Team Pleasure Chest.

There are so many different ways to care for the environment: shopping with reusable bags, composting, taking public transportation, driving an energy efficient car…the list goes on. But what about our sex toys? Is there a way we can recycle our old vibrators and dildos before they all congeal into a giant floating dick island in the middle of the ocean?

Some companies are taking it upon themselves to offer recycling programs and even incentives. Let’s meet them:

Eden Fantasys: Project Re-Vibe will gladly take your used rubber plastic and or silicone toys. They only ask that you clean them and remove the batteries. Plus, for every toy you recycle, you get a 15% discount to buy something new!

It's Normal: Australian based shop, Normal, have an Sex Toy Buyback Program. Once their warehouse confirms the toy has been received, you'll get a store credit of $20 as a thank you for doing your part on helping the planet!

Come As you Are Co-Op: This Toronto-based sex shop is Canada’s first sex toy and vibrator recycling program. They only take silicone sex toys and vibrators, and ask that you wash or boil your toy before sending it in for a 15% off coupon. CAYA also offers a chest binder recycling program, and will give you a $10 gift card for each binder you donate!

LoveHoney Rabbit Amnesty Program: for our friends across the pond, this British online retailer offers a vibrator recycling program for any toys that have a motor. Since the program’s inception, Lovehoney has recycled over 2 tons of vibrators! Unfortunately they’ve discontinued they’re rewards points system, but isn’t helping the earth its own reward?

If you can't recycle old toys, there are other ways you can help the environment. We love rechargeable toys, not just because they are more powerful and long lasting, but because they cut down on disposable battery waste.

Have some tried and true nonporous (siliconeglassstainless steel) toys? Sterilize them and host a used sex toy swap with friends and playmates!
