Language of this book is a little outdated and written from a heteronormative cis white male perspective however still super informative. As someone who is not new to kink, I still learned a lot from the book and took useful information from it.

I recommend this book to people who are new to BDSM. SM101 is a comprehensive guide to the basics of BDSM, which includes safety, consent, scene setups, technique, and aftercare. The author goes into depth without getting dry or biased (lots of the people BDSM communities have different views, but Jay Wiseman tries to keep it neutral).
