I got this and the New Topping book when I started exploring kink and entered my first D/s relationship. They were very helpful in figuring out what I wanted my dominant style to be. Both books are a great read, regardless of which side of the dynamic you’re on.
There's a common misconception that bottoms don't have much to figure out, or their jobs aren't big ones, but that's absolutely not true. Bottoms are powerful, and share the responsibility of guiding tops and how a scene is going to play out. The New Bottoming Book illustrates and communicates that very well, and lends great ideas and things to consider when bottoming! Definitely a must-have for beginner and advanced players alike.
this was one of the first books i read when i wanted to learn more about my kinky identity; i read it in tandem with the partner book "the new topping book" which I recommend for everyone to do to get a more nuanced and broad scope of the intermingling of tops and bottoms. It provides a lot of supportive language on desire and communication that is accessible and realistic and practical as well.
