Y’all. This book is SO beautiful! Yes, informational (Midori brough shibari to the US/English language audience and is a literal LEGEND), but SO PRETTY TOO. There are photos of folks of all different body types in ties and the photography is so great!
A total geek and rope worker for a few years now, this book is a MUST have in your arson of rope knowledge and books. Midori does an amazing job of introducing a brief history of Japanese bondage history while also connecting the ties demonstrated with their origin history. I love that the ties are demonstrated on a variety of different body types as opposed to the majority of rope books I have read that focus on very skinny euro-centric bodies.
Midori is my hero. This book was published more than 10 years ago, and it's incredibly gender-inclusive, full of history and ideas, and of course, knots! Great illustrations and guides, and really hot photos - Midori is a legend for a reason.
Midori is one of the mainstays of bondage work in the US, and this book does not fall short in terms of information & inspiration. The only downside I saw was that I found some of the knots a little difficult or advanced. I'm sure that's something some other folks are actually looking for, so I can't fault the book too much.
