f you are interested in rope play this is a kit that gives you 3 ropes cut, safety shears and an instructional DVD. For those who don’t have a DVD player or CD-ROM slot on your laptop/computer, don’t worry they also have links on their website to access that same info. The rope is strong and good for rigging.
and this starter kit is the perfect introduction to the world of knots and rope restraint. Coming with a few handy lengths of rope to try out a few tricks, I also really love and appreciate the addition of safety shears just in case they need to be used! These kits are great though because they also come with an instructional DVD on different self and partner bondage knots to try out with the different lengths. The DVD can be awesome for people like me who are visual learners, but for some reason books just don't cut it for us! There are so many more books than video instruction for sale, and I appreciate the effort put in by the folks at Twisted Monk.
I think this kit is the best investment because you get multiple lengths of rope, safety shears, and an instructional DVD with Midori. It's worth it to have the extra tools and knowledge before delving into rope tying and play, and Twisted Monk is a great company too-they even offer to replace rope if you have to cut it for emergency reasons. Hemp is the material of rope I prefer too, because it is sturdy and durable, but still soft enough.
For those looking to get into rope play, the kit provides 3 pieces of rope and a DVD with instructions on how to do most basic (and some more advanced) ties with the rope included in the kit. I liked being able to learn new ties and practicing with friends. We did have to rewind the DVD a few times to get it right. The rope itself is super high quality and comes with safety scissors and a lifetime warranty. I like knowing that if I have to cut someone out (or be cut out) Twisted Monk will replace the rope for me.
so I can't really compare it to others, but this stuff is really soft and supple. No scratchiness or skin irritation on me. 30 feet can also get you pretty far with a lot of basic bondage stuff, but next time I would definitely invest in the longer length, especially in case you need to cut it off - that way you don't end up with short, unusable pieces, or at least not as quickly. I also really recommend the book Naughty Knots if you're just starting out with rope play. It looks like a cheesy little gift book, but it actually has really nice visuals/explanations for a lot of beginner-friendly bondage.
The DVD covers all the basics, as well as so many beautiful shibari harness styles! It certainly blasts folks into the confidence rope-tying safely with all the tools necessary to do so. It's a wonderful value.
This is the best rope you can get. It's soft, sturdy, and the color is vivid. I've never had any issues and swear by this rope. Whether you're into intricate bondage or your a novice it's great.
Twisted Monk makes a beautiful product, and their pledge to replace any rope that had to be emergency cut during play shows their commitment to provide a quality product to customers they care about. The rope is beautiful and the colors are gorgeous. Hemp rope will start to feel different almost immediately as you start to play, but that is just the nature of the product. Good hold, and great tactile sensation. A higher investment than most rope, but well worth it for does who regularly use rope in their play.
