Men’s Sexual Health #MasturbationMay Edition

As you may have noticed, we’ve been posting a lot of sexual health related content recently. We just wrapped up STI Awareness Month and are moving into #MasturbationMay, but we're joining hims in spreading awareness that April was also Testicular Cancer Awareness Month - and should be all year round. Because touching yourself can be healthy in so many ways, here is a list of benefits associated with masturbation as well as tips from hims for self exams for penis-owners.

Did you know jacking off is good for your prostate health? Used in a healthy fashion, regular masturbation with ejaculation can help maintain the health of the prostate as well as lower the incidence of prostate cancer in men. Massaging your prostate also helps maintain the elasticity of the tissue and reduces the risk of cancer. Need a helping hand? The Aneros line is designed by doctors for both maximum pleasure and health benefits!

Masturbation also encourages blood flow! If a person does not have a regular sexual partner, masturbation can be the most important way to maintain good sexual functioning. This blood flow is especially important for people over 50. Playing with the penis while it is flaccid is a great way to encourage blood flow and can extend your arousal period, which increases orgasmic response. Cockrings are also a fun way to increase sensitivity and trap blood flow into the penis. The We-Vibe pivot is our fave cockring because of the added vibration and remote control that allows a partner to control it as well.

Human Sexuality expert and one of our go-to affiliates, Dr. Hernando Chaves, further affirms the benefits of masturbation on the body, mind, and soul. 'The reason why we masturbate is that it’s simply good for us. Masturbation helps us fall asleep, reduces stress and tension.' Whether you needed a reason to masturbate or not, these are all good signs that you are pointed in the right direction. Don't worry, your boner doesn't have to be a loner, we have tons of male masturbation enhancers, including sleeves, eggs, and strokers.

For You from Hims

For Hims

Our friends at forhims.com have put together this quick checklist and infographic below to make Self Exams part of your routine too! Testicular Cancer (TC) is the most common type of cancer found in men between the ages of 15-35. Prevention is key and when detected early enough, one is almost 100% likely to be cured. Here’s Hims recommendations for a self exam:

1)Take a shower, dry off, and step in front of a mirror. Your scrotum needs to be relaxed.

2)Make sure you are checking one testicle at a time.

3)Take your index and middle finger on one side, and your thumb on the other side of the testicle. Gently feel for any lumps, bumps, or hard spots. Check for any pain or numbness.

4)Repeat for other testicle following the same steps.

5)If you notice any of these symptoms, don’t ignore them.

The self examinations can really make a difference and should be done at least once a month. For more on men's health, please visit forhims.com. Now, get to it and give yourself a hand!
