I was excited to dive into this book, which I believe should be titled "Modern Tantra". There were several racist remarks and stereotypes Barbara Carrellas used as examples in this book, which is so disheartening. Such as in the prelude, where she states: "The Latina women I work with favor the Charo, coochie-coochie look. The black women favor Uptown Saturday Night..." For someone who claims to be a sex educator, alongside Annie Sprinkle (who I used to have a lot of respect for), to use this type of language and paint a specific image of people of color really turns me off to her words, so I did not even dive into the techniques she recommended.
This book is great. It validated some of my thinking about loving sex but then takes it further and gave me ways to practice and act to actually create beautiful orgasmic sex. Of course I'm still working on it but I've definitely been able to bring sex into a new space because of it.
